I was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, spending the majority of my formative years playing piano, doing school work, and cheering on the Riders. While I’ve since moved to Saskatoon in 2010, my desire for the Green and White hasn’t wavered, and is only matched by my passion for education.
Academically, I graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Arts (History) degree in 2006, and followed that up with a Masters of Education (Technology and Development) in 2012. My first degree gave me the background in research, writing, critical thinking I would need to dig deeply into problems, while the second allowed me to focus on the power of education to create change, and the unique opportunities afforded by technology as an agent of that change.
Professionally, I have 9 years experience working as a classroom teacher, primarily as a Social Studies and Physical Education teacher; though I have also taught ELA, Math, and Science. Additionally, while I have taught all grade levels, my area of expertise and focus is Junior High and High School (Grade 7 – 12 respectively).
In 2012 I began working as an Instructional Designer, with my first client being an online school here in the province. Since then I’ve had the pleasure of working with a variety of organizations, both within the Education sector and across the spectrum of industry. Each new project has allowed me to hone my skills, meet great people, and see just how powerful a force good design can be.
Today, I offer my services as a Professional Instructional Designer. Whether in a school, a corporate setting, non-profit organization, or anything else in between, let me show you how the principles of Instructional Design can be leveraged to improve training, learning, and teaching; and to create positive, lasting change in the process.
